Kent was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on August 5th 1974. Shortly thereafter his family relocated to Tucson, Arizona, to enjoy the warm weather and clear blue skies. Kent resided on the east side of Tucson where he attended Palo Verde High School and found himself on stage in nearly every theater production until graduating in 1992. Kent then went on to study acting at Pima College where he and his theater colleagues received stellar reviews and won several local and regional competitions. At age of 20, after studying acting and directing in college, Kent decided to tackle life and his passion for acting head-on and left Tucson for San Francisco with $800, two suitcases and a mountain bike his mother shipped to him a week later. During the 2 years Kent lived in San Francisco he continued to pursue his acting and paid for the studio he was sharing with another artist by taking on the traffic and the hills of the city as a bike messenger. Kent decided that he wanted to take a chance on that that big break in New York and so he pulled up stakes and went for broke. In New York, he continued his acting, supported by bike messengering for four more years until 2000. After much thought and deliberation, Kent decided to enter a new career. He returned to Tucson to pursue this new career with Northwestern. Immediately, Kent started his formal insurance education by studying for and passing exams for insurance license, certifications and specialized knowledge. In December of 2004 Kent expanded his practice to the Phoenix area where he resides today with his beloved yellow lab Sadie whom Kent received as a gift in Tennessee on his cross-country trip from New York-Tucson in 2000. When not helping his clients, Kent spends his free time hiking, mountain biking, camping, writing, watching independent films and working on his yoga practice. Kent's father, Michael, has been in the insurance business for 34 years and is the last Welborn in Tucson. His mother, Melissa, is a retired International Human Resource Director and is currently living in the Houston, Texas, area. Kent also has an older sister, Michelle, who ventured out to San Francisco in 1997 and is working as a doula. And in case you are curious, Kent never lost his love of acting, he can be found in local theater.
